Why use a VPN on your Windows PC

Every app, not just the browser

Your internet provider and anyone on the same network see only encrypted traffic. That covers Chrome and Edge, and also Steam, Discord, Telegram Desktop, Outlook and every other program on the PC.

Hide your real IP

Websites and online services see the IP address of a Browsec server, not yours. Streaming platforms, games and music services work as if you were in the country you picked.

You decide what goes through the VPN

The location list shows live ping, so you can pick the fastest server. Smart Rules (split tunneling) let you choose which apps and sites use the VPN. For example, keep an online game on a direct connection while your browser stays protected.

Browsec VPN for Windows: Smart Rules

Built for everyday Windows use

Safe on public Wi-Fi

Laptops spend a lot of time on café, hotel and airport networks. With the app on, the whole Windows connection is encrypted, so someone on the same hotspot can't read what you send.

Starts with Windows

Turn on autostart and the app launches with Windows, connecting to your last server before you open a browser. If the connection drops, it reconnects on its own.

Fast Premium servers

Premium servers have fewer users than free ones, so video, downloads and calls stay smooth. For the best speed, pick a location close to you.

What you get with Browsec VPN for Windows

Worldwide connection

46 server locations across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia, including two in the US. Switch between them in one click.

Whole-PC protection

A browser extension protects one browser. The Windows app protects the whole PC: every browser, game launcher, messenger and background updater.

Lives in the system tray

Connect or disconnect with one click. The rest of the time the app sits in the tray and stays out of your way.

Three protection modes

Full Protection sends all traffic through the VPN. Only chosen protects just the apps and sites you tick, such as a messenger and a streaming site. All except chosen protects everything apart from what you exclude, such as your banking app.

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up Browsec VPN on Windows?
Download the .exe installer from this page and double-click it. The setup wizard takes about a minute. If Windows asks whether to let the app make changes, click Yes. Then open Browsec from the Start menu, sign in with your Browsec Premium account and click Connect. If the download from GitHub doesn't start, use one of the mirrors on this page, or turn on the Browsec browser extension and try again.
How do I turn on the VPN on Windows?
Open the Browsec app from the system tray or the Start menu and click Connect. To switch servers, click the current location and pick another one from the list of 46 locations. The list shows live ping: the lower the number, the faster that server is for you. To turn the VPN off, click Disconnect. If you want the VPN on every time you use the PC, enable autostart in the settings and the app will connect to your last server when Windows starts.
Which versions of Windows does Browsec support?
The app runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 with a 64-bit (x64) processor, which covers most desktops and laptops. To check, open Settings > System > About and look at System type. A build for ARM64 devices, such as laptops with Snapdragon chips, is in development. Windows 7 and 8 are not supported.
How can Browsec VPN help me every day on Windows?
It keeps every program on the PC safe on public Wi-Fi, from the browser to Steam, Discord and Outlook. It lets you watch streaming services that are available only in other countries, opens sites blocked on your network, and hides your traffic from your provider and trackers. With Smart Rules you can keep an online game or your banking app on a direct connection and protect everything else.
Can I use the same subscription on multiple devices?
Yes. One Browsec Premium subscription covers up to 5 devices at the same time, in any mix of Windows, Mac and Linux apps, browser extensions and phones. Each browser with the Browsec extension counts as a separate device. Sign in with the same email and password everywhere. If you need more than five, please contact our support.
